The Petermanns

Johann Bernhard Petermann was born in the month of December, between 1843 and 1847 in Oldenberg, Germany, the son of Johann and Gesina Petermann. He married Sophie Steuer, born in the town of Elsfleth, Oldenberg, Germany, circa 1857, the daughter of William and Bertha Steuer. Johann and Sophie had: Johann Bernard Junior born circa 1878 in either Germany or Brooklyn, New York Christian August born April 6, 1883, 282 Conover Street, Ward 12, Brooklyn, New York. Wilhelm born July 1884, Hoboken, New Jersey. Died June 27, 1886 of diphtheria, Hoboken, New Jersey. Meta Helene born January 18, 1886, Hoboken, New Jersey. Sophie, AKA Annie, born October 24, 1887, 65 Willow Street, Hoboken, New Jersey.

Anna Petermann married William H. Wulpern in St. John's German Evangelical Church, 44-46 Fairview Ave., Jersey City on May 6th 1909.

Christian Petermann *While there were a lot of pictures of Meta's sister, Annie, in Helen's collection, there are very few of her brother, Christian, and no known* pictures of her brother, Johann Bernard.**

Christian Petermann was identified by either Bud Land or Helen Land in three photos. All of the photos in which Christian had been identified by either Helen or Bud are group shots. I have isolated and enlarged Christian from these three photos in order to get a better sense of of what he looked like.

The photo on the left is an enlargment of Christian from a group shot in which Helen identified Christian. The photo in the middle is an enlargment of Christian in which Bud identified Christian.
