Collection of Maggie Land Blanck "Nine Tailors Make a Man" Publication and date unknown. There are multiple interpretations of the meaning of the saying "Nine Tailors Make A Man". With this capital the little fellow purchased fruit which....." Consequently it can be assumed that this illustration is a depiction of an English story of a young beggar who went into a tailor shop. The nine tailors working there took a liking to the young man and each gave him a shilling. When he had made his fortune the young man remembered the tailors by taking the motto, "nine tailors make me a man."
