Unknown. Posted at Batley year not clear. In October 2011 Cath wrote: I grew up in Smithy brook and think this could be the back to back on Thornhill road, just up from where I used to live. Heading up the hill towards Middlestown. It has now been made into one rather large house." |

Collection of Maggie Land Blanck, June 2011, reproduction of
original photo I bought this image with a group that included images from Heckmondwick, Gomersal, and Hanging Heaton and for many years did not know the location. In January 2017 Kimberley Law wrote and identified the street as High Street, Hanging Heaton near where she lives. She said the right side of the street has not changed much over the years. Kimberley wrote that her grandmother was a Gillard and worked at both Jessop's and Blakeridge Mills prior to her marriage to Frederick Thoms Pakeha Law who was from Kent. Her grandmother: always told me (but I've never been able to verify) that she won a competition to produce a new fabric. The fabric she created was slub. You can do a goodle map search to find the location by searching High Street, Hanging Heaton. The above images was taken from the west looking in the direction towards Shaw Cross.
