George Redmonds does not include a listing for Langfield in either of the two books I have as of June 3, 2000.
Langfield was a place name.
There was a village called Langfield west of Halifax.

There are very few records in Birstall parish for Langfield; suggesting the the family was not from the parish.

John Langfield and the Widow Crossley John Langfield was married when he had an affair with the "widow Crossley" in 1668.
He had a daughter Mary baptized two and a half months after the baptism of the bastard, Susanna.
