Felix Simmons born in Ireland c 1834 was listed as a laborer in 1860 and 1863. By 1869 he was listed as a liquor dealer and he was listed as a liquor dealer in the 1870 census, directory and the liquor license list.

In 1873 he was a canvasser for the 12 Ward.

1873 Felix Simmons was the canvasser for the 1st district ward 12.

1873, January, A gang of cock fighters were arrested at Felix Simmons' place in Conover street. Nine men, excluding Simmons, were held on $500 bond.

1873: 276 Conover Liquors home 260 Conover. John not listed on Conover.

1874: October, Felix Simmons was keeping a "liquor saloon" at Conover and Reid streets when his daughter found the body of a dead man in the woodshed at the rear of the property. She thought he was asleep but further investigation showed he was deceased. The deceased was Nicholas Walsh of 410 Van Brunt. An inquest was held. James Burns was the bar keep. The only entrance to the shed was through the barroom.

1874: December Felix Simmons, and four others including Michael Clahan who had a liquor store at 355 Van Brunt were arrested for holding a cock fight at Clahan's store.

1875 Census: brick $5,000 Simmons, Felix, 37, Ireland, liquor dealer, not indicated as the owner, naturalized, Mary daughter 22, Nelly daughter 20, John, father 66, Ireland, two other families in the building

1876: Felix Simmons, 276 Conover street, liquors. John not listed on Conover.
