Lawrence Fay was born in Ireland circa 1848. He married Julia Fogerty (born Ireland circa 1847) in 1870. they had four children: two died young and two did not marry and have families. Lawrence had a hotel/saloon at 446/448 Van Brunt. He died in 1888 and Julia left with two young children (ages 8 and 6) continued to run the establishment until at least 1892 and probably later.

FAY on Dec. 17, 1927, Julia A beloved mother of Lawrence W. and Lillian M. Fay, at her residence, 1608 11th ave. Solemn requiem mass on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 9:30 A. M. at R. C. Church of the Holy Name. Interment Holy Crosa Ceme-tery.

Julia A. Fay born in Ireland and formerly a resident of the Old Twelfth Ward, died yesterday at her home, 1608 Eleventh avenue. She is survived by a son, Lawrence W and a daughter, Lillian M, Fay.
